PADI OPEN WATER REFERRAL

Alex's Aquatic Adventures offers the PADI Open Water Referral Program. On this page we will clarify what Open Water Referral paperwork you need. E-learning from PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) What it is and is not there seems to be confusion on what you would get from Alex's Aquatic Adventures.

The PADI Open Water Referral Program is a great thing to do if you are coming on vacation to Waikiki, Oahu, Hawaii. You do all the book work and pool work at home. So you do not have to waste time during your vacation studying book's and taking final tests. You simply go to your PADI SCUBA diving shop close to home pay them to complete the book work and pool work. Once you have finished with the program they will give you Open Water Referral Paperwork. You should all so received the SCUBA diving manual,SCUBA diving logbook and the PADI recreational dive planner. These are not provided by Alex's Aquatic Adventures. If you do not have these products when you arrive in Oahu,Hawaii, we can obviously supply them at an additional cost.

Alex's Aquatic Adventures, will take you SCUBA diving on two separate days completing four SCUBA dives which would complete your PADI Open Water Certification. During these four SCUBA dives we will implement the skills that you learnt in confined water back at home. Don't worry we will make this very easy for you by demonstrating each skill to remind you how it is done. PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) standards state that you have to complete the next section of the course within one year of the referral paperwork. if the referral paperwork is more than one year old we cannot accept it due to standards.

The PADI Open Water Referral Program is taught at a maximum ratio of 4 to 1 (four SCUBA diving students to one PADI instructornts). Maximum depth that we are allowed to take you to on dives 1 and 2 is 40 feet dive 3 and 4 maximum depth of 60 feet which is your maximum depth as a PADI Open Water Diver.

This course cost $260 this includes transportation to and from your hotel in Waikiki, Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii,SCUBA-diving rental equipment (which was replaced July 1, 2011) your air fills, Certification card and 4 boat dives (no beach dive as I've said before we are too lazy) . Your time commitment each day is from 11 AM to 3:30 PM on two separate day.

E- LEARNING

We receive lots of phone calls regarding this PADI Certification this is where you pay PADI to do the Certification online. They give you access to a online SCUBA-diving manual you do not get a hardcopy. you do the knowledge reviews online and print those out and bring them with you to your Open Water Certification. The written test is all so completed online all sounds great. This is where the confusion comes in we can not teach you to SCUBA dive on a computer they don't like getting wet. So you still need to complete the confined water session to learn all the skills. Unfortunately we also have to give you a 20 question multiple-choice test. Because this test is not a open book test so we've got to check that someone did not take the test for you. So as you can see there is really no time saved. You still have to complete a confined water session. We still have to minister a test and complete 4 open water dives this is why it still costs the same as a NORMAL CERTIFICATION, because we still have to do everything. But remember we give you the SCUBA diving book the PADI recreational dive planer and a PADI logbook. You have paid PADI for E-learning not Alex's Aquatica Adventures PADI is an agency that Alex's Aquatic Adventures teaches under and has to meet their standards which is a good thing it gives credibility and quality to the certification we cannot do as we please.

I have just finished a phone conversation with PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors). If you wish to do E-learning this is the way it works you pay me $120 which is the fee that PADI charges. Alex's Aquatic Adventures, would buy the certification course on your behalf and give you an access code. Alex's Aquatic Adventures, will receive a % from PADI for doing this for you. I was told this is between 20% and 25%. This is how the Resorts make money out of E-learning.

If you still wish to do this we will simply give you a hardcopy of the SCUBA diving manual and recreational dive planner and PADI logbook which would take care of this refund from PADI. But don't forget we still have to complete confined water, four SCUBA dives and a final test. The three-day certification will still cost $395, If you're doing the two-day certification it is still $325. if you're doing our two-day Deluxe certification course is still $440, The $120 for the E-learning code is given to PADI not Alex'is Aquatic Adventure.. So in my opinion this is a complete waste of time and money.
